The Ark of the Covenant is Placed in the Temple
Text: 1 Kings 7:51-8:21
Reflection and Question: Solomon has succeeded in building a grand Temple to be the house of the Lord. Now all the heads of the tribes and the elders of Israel assemble as the Ark of the Covenant is moved from the tent somewhere in Jerusalem, where David placed it, to the inner sanctuary made for it deep inside the Temple. Solomon blesses God before the people of Israel. He reminds them of the liberation from Egypt, the giving of the Law to Moses and this fulfillment of God’s promise to provide a home for the Ark of the Covenant. What promises has God fulfilled for you?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, inspire us as You did David and Solomon to do Your work. David moved the Ark to Jerusalem and Solomon built a suitable house for it. In whatever work You have for us to do, guide and shelter us as You did them. Amen.
